Heart of the Forest
A Contemporary Fantasy Romance Series
“The earth beneath her feet had been churned by the tracks of heavy machinery—logging equipment, used to haul away the lumber once harvested. The ferns and shrubs were trampled underneath, left strangled and withering where they grew. Her heart ached with their suffering, the loss cutting through her like a knife.”
Deep in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, there is a rainforest unlike any other.
The ancient and mighty trees stand tall, draped in moss and brimming with magic. Their guardians, the forest fae tied to the oldest maples, face unprecedented threats from the humans nearby. They must seek out the help of others, more sympathetic to their cause, to understand and overcome these very human problems.
Their isolated existence is no longer the safest path forward.
Heart of the Forest is a series which explores four interconnected stories in this world, following the forest fae and their human allies over four consecutive seasons. In the process, they each find love and understanding they didn't expect.

“He pulled her in closer, breathing her in. She smelled of the forest itself—fir trees and damp leaves and wood smoke.”
Book 1 - Fall
Under Moss and Maple
Iona is an Acernae, a fae guardian of the ancient and powerful forests of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. She spent her existence watching over her forest, observing the lives of humans from afar. When an illegal logging operation threatens the trees she watches over, she turns to an unlikely ally—against the wishes of her kin.
Liam Wesley grew up a painfully ordinary boy in the heart of the old growth, who left the forest behind to find success in the city and earn the approval of his peers. Returning to his childhood home makes him question the life he's built, and he must decide what is most important to him.
As the two work to protect the vulnerable life within the Valley, they find a natural comfort between them, and learn they have more in common than they thought.
Together, they face off against the hardened logging crew, men willing to go to any lengths to make a bit of money. The loggers threaten irreparable damage to the forest and the trees that Iona holds most dear.
“It wasn’t a careful thing, not gentle or even calculated. Not the way he’d imagined it would go, in the small moments he’d let himself picture it—the small, secret longings he tried to keep from himself.”
Book 2 - Winter
The Roots That Bind
Andrew Wilkenson has made a lot of mistakes in his life. After the death of his father, he took over the family business and responsibility for a logging crew that depends on him to make a living. Now, Andrew must also deal with the fallout from his not-quite-legal logging operations, and settle the brewing unrest within his crew.
Eli, as his reluctant guide, holds Andrew responsible for the harm done to his forest and his family. A trusted figure among his people, Eli also blames himself for failing to stop Andrew in the first place. But the more he learns of the human loggers, the more complex his feelings toward them grow.
Together, they face a mounting threat from Jimmy. Denied the payout from the sale of Vall's maple and fuming at his loss of control over Andrew, Jimmy's actions grow increasingly unstable.
As they both grapple with threats to their people and the responsibility of leadership, Andrew and Eli find common ground. They must learn to trust and support each other if they want to stop Jimmy for good.
